Google has unveiled a revamp of its social network, Google+, borrowing heavily from rival networks Twitter and Facebook.
The search-engine giant has introduced trending topics and cover pictures, as well as a more “dynamic” navigation menu.
The company said more than 170m people have “upgraded” to the social network so far.
Facebook has announced it is to buy Instagram - the popular photo-sharing smartphone app.
Facebook is paying $1bn (£629m) in cash and stock for the takeover.
Instagram was only launched in October 2010 - initially just for the iPhone before being offered as an Android app last week.
Iran appears to have blocked the official website for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Users in Iran have tweeted that they are unable to connect to london2012.com and are instead redirected to peyvandha.ir - a site offering stories from Iran’s official news agencies.

More than half a million Apple computers have been infected with the Flashback Trojan, according to a Russian anti-virus firm.
An investigation by Dr Web suggests that about 600,000 Macs have installed the malware - potentially allowing them to be hijacked and used as a “botnet”.
Civil authorities in Mexico City have rolled out a free app that will warn people when an earthquake is imminent.
Mayor of Mexico City Marcelo Ebrard unveiled the app on Tuesday, on behalf of Mexico City’s Civil Protection service.
The app triggers an alarm on the phone once an earthquake of magnitude 6.5 or higher has been detected.
EMI Music, the biggest record publisher in the world, has terminated its contract with streaming site Grooveshark.
It comes three months after EMI announced it was suing the service for not paying royalties.
The other three major record labels - Sony, Universal and Warner - are also taking the US-based site to court.
TomTom has blamed a “leap year bug” for a fault causing some of its satellite navigation devices to malfunction.
The firm said that a problem with its global positioning system firmware - code embedded into the devices - was causing ”a limited number of models” to fail to identify their location.
Within a few weeks to Instagram being developed for Android Phones, the app is now available to download.
The photo sharing app appeared on Google Play early this morning and many people have been though to have downloaded it.
Over the past few years, the application has only been available on Apple’s Mobile Operating System, iOS, but now more users will be able to use it on their Android Smart Phones.
